I Heart The Hoodies
A few years ago, I caught THE HOODIES at the (now defunct) Steel Music Hall. They were a little younger (and shorter) then, but their potential was obvious.
Fast forward to 2008…THE HOODIES are selling out shows at Water Street on a regular basis and making a name for themselves all along the east coast and beyond.
The boys (all from Greece, btw) just got back from LA, where they recorded some tracks with producer Mark Trombino, the mastermind behind some of my favorite albums ever (Jimmy Eat World’s Bleed American, Blink 182’s Dude Ranch, and The Starting Line’s Say It Like You Mean It).
Most importantly, THE HOODIES are incredibly cool. You’ll always find them chatting it up with fans after a show. They’ve been known to personally deliver tickets to fans who shoot them a myspace message. And what other band would call you up on your birthday and serenade you with a harmonized “Happy Birthday?” (Thanks, guys!)
I have a feeling the five bucks I spent at a tiny merch table at Steel Music hall a few years ago is gonna score me a lot of money on E Bay one of these days.
They’re on the cover of this week’s Rochester Insider. Pick it up. It’s free, dammit.
